At Artabric, our identity is deeply rooted in the rich history and culture of Ferrol. When it came time to choose a name for our company, we wanted something that would reflect our strong connection to this region.
Our name, Artabric, is derived from "Artabria," the historical region of the Ártabros, a Celtic tribe that once inhabited the northwest of present-day Galicia. These early settlers lived in the area encompassing the estuaries of Ferrol, Betanzos, and A Coruña. According to ancient texts, their central hub was the "Portus Magnus Artabrorum," a significant commercial port that many historians believe corresponds to the current Ferrol estuary. This historical connection ties us not only to the land but also to a legacy of trade and innovation dating back to 62 B.C., when even Julius Caesar reached these shores.
Once the name was chosen, we turned our attention to designing a logo. A logo is a critical element in establishing any new brand or project, as it becomes a visual representation of its values and mission. For Artabric, we knew we wanted a design that was simple yet impactful, using primarily straight lines and a format that could be easily rendered in a single color.
Our final logo incorporates two key elements. The first is the letter "A," a nod to Artabric's name. The second is a minimalist depiction of the indentation formed by the sea in the Ártabro Gulf, representing the three estuaries of Ferrol, Betanzos, and A Coruña. Together, these elements create a design that captures both the essence of our company's origins and our forward-looking vision.
At Artabric, our name and logo remind us daily of where we come from and the enduring spirit of innovation and resilience that guides us forward.
